JOB OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Director, Communications, the Graphics and Brand Specialist is responsible for protecting, strengthening, and evolving the ACGME brand through high-quality visual design and rigorous brand standards management. This role serves as the organization’s primary design and brand stewardship function, reflecting the sustained growth in the volume and complexity of visual communications across the ACGME.
The Graphics and Brand Specialist leads graphic design across reports, initiatives, campaigns, and digital channels; manages brand and logo standards; coordinates photography and visual assets; supports video production efforts; and develops templates and visual tools that enable staff members to communicate clearly and consistently. The role ensures visual quality, accessibility, and brand consistency across all channels while supporting innovation, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in image creation and design workflows.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads graphic design across a wide range of organizational communications, including reports, initiatives, campaigns, digital content (e.g., website, social media), presentations, and print materials, ensuring alignment with ACGME Brand Guidelines and the Editorial Style Guide.
Develops wireframes and visual structures for new or reorganized website content, coordinating communications and approvals between content owners and the Web Team.
Develops and publishes images, photos, and graphics to spec for both the ACGME and ACGME International (ACGME-I) websites.
Serves as steward of the ACGME brand and logo standards, providing guidance, review, and approvals to ensure consistent and appropriate brand representation across departments, channels, and sub-branded activities; collaborates with the Director, Communications and Legal to review and approve requests for external use of ACGME brand elements.
Provides quality control across visual communications, proactively identifying and resolving issues related to layout, accessibility, visual hierarchy, and brand consistency.
Designs, maintains, and evolves templates and visual tools (e.g., PowerPoint, reports, and document templates) that enable staff to efficiently create on-brand materials.
Coordinates photography and visual asset creation, including managing relationships with photographers and other vendors; supporting logistics related to the ACGME Awards and other initiatives; and organizing, maintaining, and governing the organization’s visual asset library.
Provides visual design support for video content, including development of visual standards, graphics, and basic editing; coordinates with internal partners or external vendors as appropriate to support video production in close collaboration with the Digital Learning team.
Maintains and updates brand resources and visual asset libraries to ensure accessibility, accuracy, and usability across the organization.
Collaborates closely with the Vice President, Director, Communications, and other members of the Communications team to support campaigns, initiatives, and major organizational projects through strong visual strategy and execution.
Advises on emerging best practices in visual communication, including evaluating and responsibly using organization-approved AI-enabled design tools in ways that protect brand integrity and intellectual property.
Develops documentation, guidance, and training materials related to brand standards, templates, and visual tools; provides training and consultation to staff as needed.
Provides similar support as requested for ACGME-I.
Supports other communication planning and implementation needs internally and externally for the Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design, brand management, or visual communications.
High proficiency in professional design tools and software, including strong competence using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
Demonstrated experience managing high-volume design workflows while maintaining quality, accuracy, and consistency.
Preferred
Experience supporting or coordinating video production and photography.
Experience developing organizational templates, design systems, or scalable visual toolkits.
Familiarity with the opportunities and risks associated with AI-enabled design tools within brand-governed environments.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL SETS, AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of brand standards, logo governance, and visual identity systems.
Strong visual judgment and exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
This hybrid position is based in a typical office environment with no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands. Most of the work performed is normally done in the ACGME office and/or home office with the typical physical demands of an office environment.
