Description
The Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Health Communication.
We seek a colleague who focuses on health communication across changing health landscapes, with a preference for scholars whose teaching and research interests may align with, but are not limited to:
- Emerging trends in healthcare interventions (e.g., digital and mobile health, artificial intelligence, data privacy, evidence-based and patient-centered perspectives).
- Integrative uses of theory and innovative methods that incorporate multi-perspective and multi-method approaches to health and healthcare.
- Communication strategies during periods of change and crisis (e.g., health, public safety, climate, policy & institutional).
- Cross-cultural and global perspectives on digital health and public safety messaging.
- Access and equity in urban and rural health contexts.
- Digital and transmedia storytelling in health and related contexts.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field at the time of appointment (August 1, 2026).
Applicants should provide:
- Evidence of a strong research program, or the potential for a strong research program.
- A commitment to teaching and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
- The ability to create new courses that contribute to our curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications:
Competitive applicants will demonstrate a commitment to transdisciplinary research, with a potential for securing funding and partnering across the department and the university.
